Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) according to a specific standard set of medical guidelines called the Rome IV criteria.
• Your IBS is not the type that mainly causes constipation (known as IBS-C).
• Your IBS symptoms are moderate to severe, based on a specific symptom scoring tool (confirm with trial site if unsure of your score).
• You are able and willing to safely have a colonoscopy (a procedure to look inside your bowel).

Who may not be able to join:

• You have a weakened immune system, or you take medications that suppress your immune system.
• You have a serious bowel or other medical condition that means you cannot safely take the bowel-clearing preparation needed before a colonoscopy.
• You have a serious bowel or other medical condition that means you cannot safely have a colonoscopy under mild sedation.
• You currently have active cancer.
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You have had certain types of abdominal surgery (some surgeries are exceptions — confirm with the trial site which surgeries may or may not affect your eligibility).
• You have a severe mental health condition, or a diagnosed problem with alcohol or drug misuse.
• You have recently started taking probiotics, or have used antibiotics or anti-inflammatory painkillers (such as ibuprofen) within the last 4 weeks.
• You currently use medications known to affect how your bowel moves (with the exception of loperamide).
• You have a diagnosed bleeding disorder.
• You have been diagnosed with an inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis), coeliac disease, or microscopic colitis.
• You have chronic kidney or liver disease.
• Your blood test shows a very low level of a specific type of white blood cell called neutrophils (confirm with trial site).
