Who might be able to join this trial:
This trial has three groups of participants: students, caregivers, and school-based professionals.
For students (ages 8–14):
- Students who have a formal medical or educational diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or where ASD is suspected
- Students who show signs of significant anxiety, based on reports from the student, a parent, or a teacher
- Students who show clinically significant challenges with social interaction, as measured by a standardised assessment tool called the SRS-2 (confirm with trial site)
For caregivers:
- People who are the legal guardian of a student who meets the student criteria listed above
For school-based professionals:
- Qualified professionals working in roles such as special or general education, school psychology, counselling, social work, speech/language pathology, occupational therapy, or physical therapy — or paraprofessionals who support these roles
- People currently working with autistic students who also have anxiety
- People who are able to attend training workshops, deliver at least 80% of the assigned program, and take part in at least 80% of regular consultation sessions with the research team
Who may not be able to join:
For students:
- Students who have a known intellectual disability
- Students whose behavioural or psychiatric challenges would prevent participation in small group activities
- Students whose parent or caregiver has not given permission for them to participate
For school-based professionals:
- People who are unable to attend the required training sessions, deliver the assigned program, or participate in consultation visits
- People who do not currently work with students who have autism and anxiety
