Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 20 and 85 years old
- You are male or female and have been diagnosed with heart failure with symptoms (ranging from noticeable limitations during physical activity to severe symptoms at rest), and your doctor has recommended a heart tissue biopsy — this may also apply if you have already had a heart transplant and need a biopsy, with or without type 2 diabetes
- You are willing and able to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had an active infection or infectious illness in the last 2 weeks before the study examination
- You have an autoimmune disease or a condition that seriously weakens your immune system, including having a low white blood cell count (confirm with trial site)
- You are pregnant
- You have a current problem with alcohol or drug addiction, or you have a psychiatric illness
- You have HIV/AIDS (confirmed or suspected), or hepatitis B or C
- You have a liver disease that is not related to a fatty liver condition or to congestion caused by heart failure
- You have or have been diagnosed with cancer
- You are unable to give informed consent, or you do not wish to consent to taking part in the study
- You are scheduled for the MRI part of the study involving a stress medication called regadenoson, and you have any of the following: an allergy to regadenoson or its ingredients; a certain type of heart rhythm problem (second- or third-degree AV block or sinus node dysfunction) without a working pacemaker; unstable chest pain (angina) that is not controlled with medication; very low blood pressure; or heart failure that is in a severe, unstable stage
