AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer confirmed by a tissue or cell sample (biopsy or similar test)
  • People who were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer no more than 6 months ago and are being considered for active treatment
  • People who have a blockage in their stomach or the tube leading from the stomach (duodenum), caused by the cancer pressing on or growing into that area, confirmed by imaging or a camera test
  • People who are being considered for one of three specific procedures to relieve the blockage: a metal stent placed by endoscopy (ES), a surgical-style connection made by endoscopic ultrasound (EUS-GE), or a surgical bypass (s-GE)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People under 18 years of age
  • People whose stomach or bowel blockage is not clearly caused by cancer (for example, if the cause is benign or uncertain)
  • People whose blockage is caused by a cancer other than pancreatic cancer
  • People who are planned for surgery to fully remove the cancer, or who have already had that surgery
  • People who have already had any treatment for their stomach or bowel blockage
  • People who are having or have recently had an additional procedure to drain the bile duct, unless it was completed without complications at least one day before (for endoscopic drainage) or one month before (for a surgical bile drainage procedure) — (confirm with trial site)
  • People who currently have any tube draining fluid through the skin, such as a drain for bile or for fluid build-up in the abdomen
  • People who are unwilling or unable to sign the consent form
  • People for whom none of the three specific blockage-relief procedures are medically appropriate, or for whom the only suitable option is a stomach drain tube or a tube through the nose
