Who might be able to join this trial:

• Adults between 18 and 60 years of age
• People who are scheduled to have a gastroscopy (camera examination of the stomach) and/or a colonoscopy (camera examination of the large bowel)
• People who have signed the consent form agreeing to take part
• People assessed as being in generally good to mild health before a procedure, based on a standard health rating scale known as ASA classification I or II (confirm with trial site)
• People whose procedure is expected to take no longer than 45 minutes

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have conditions that make it unsafe to use an airway-assist device placed in the mouth or throat, such as blood clotting problems, a tendency to bleed from the mouth or nose, damaged mucous membranes, or physical features that make placing the device difficult
• People with severe heart failure, meaning their heart limits them to very light activity or less (defined as a maximum exercise capacity below 4 METs)
• People with severe kidney disease that requires dialysis before any procedure
• People with confirmed severe liver disease
• People diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or who currently have any other ongoing or acute lung condition requiring regular or intermittent oxygen use
• People with raised pressure inside the skull
• People with a current infection of the upper airways, including the mouth, nose, or throat
• People with a fever, meaning a body temperature above 37.5 degrees Celsius
• People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
• People with known allergies or sensitivities to sedative medications such as propofol, or to medical materials such as adhesive tape
• People who require emergency surgery
• People who have experienced multiple serious injuries (polytrauma)
• People whose blood oxygen level, measured by a finger probe while breathing normal air, is below 95% before the procedure
• People with a BMI below 18.5 or above 30
• People with a documented history of drug or alcohol misuse within the two years before the start of the screening period, where alcohol misuse is defined as consuming more than three standard alcoholic drinks per day (roughly 10g of alcohol or 50g of Chinese Baijiu)
• People with a history of mental health or neurological conditions, including but not limited to depression, severe nervous system depression, Parkinson's disease, basal ganglia lesions, schizophrenia, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, or myasthenia gravis
• People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial
• People considered ineligible by the trial researchers for any other reason
