Who might be able to join this trial:
If you have had a seizure or epilepsy diagnosis (Case group):
- You have been diagnosed with epilepsy of unknown cause, or have had a first seizure, after the age of 18.
- Your diagnosis was confirmed at a specialist neurology centre.
- Places may be limited to the first 150 patients per year in this group if demand is high.
If you have migraines (Control group):
- You have an established diagnosis of migraine.
- You may or may not be taking medications that also happen to treat epilepsy.
Who may not be able to join:
If you have had a seizure or epilepsy diagnosis (Case group):
- Your seizures have a known physical cause, such as a brain tumour, stroke (not including mini-strokes), brain injury from lack of oxygen, head trauma, or a blood vessel or brain development abnormality.
If you are in the migraine group (Control group):
- You have been diagnosed with epilepsy or have had a confirmed seizure.
- Your condition is linked to a known physical cause such as a brain tumour, stroke (not including mini-strokes), brain injury from lack of oxygen, or head trauma.
Please note: Having migraines does not prevent you from joining the seizure/epilepsy group (confirm with trial site).
