Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 90 years of age at the time of joining
- People who have been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma (a specific type of cancer) of the stomach or oesophagus (food pipe), confirmed by biopsy, and who have already been enrolled in a related study called BIORESOURCE 1
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose oesophageal cancer is of a type called squamous cell carcinoma (a different type of cancer to adenocarcinoma)
- People who have previously had surgery to remove part or all of the oesophagus or stomach
- People who have had another type of cancer diagnosed within the last five years (and if a new cancer is diagnosed during the study, no further study samples will be collected from that person)
- People whose other health conditions make it impossible to provide a breath sample for the study
- People who are not able to give written consent, or who do not wish to do so
- People who are pregnant
