Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who permanently live in the target villages in Xun County, Henan Province, China
- People who are between 50 and 69 years old at the time of enrollment
- People who are willing to take part and agree to give their informed consent
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had an endoscopy (a camera examination of the inside of the body) within the past 5 years
- People who have had a history of cancer
- People who have a history of a mental health disorder
- People who have tested positive for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or HIV
- People who have serious heart or blood vessel disease
- People who have serious breathing problems, difficulty breathing, or a severe asthma episode
- People who have an abscess at the back of the throat, a severe spinal condition, or an enlarged aorta (the main blood vessel from the heart)
- People whose physical health would make it unsafe for them to undergo a camera examination, or who would have difficulty with sedation or staying still during the procedure
- People who currently have active irritation or inflammation of the upper digestive tract, or a suspected hole (perforation) in the upper digestive tract
- People who have a large build-up of fluid in the abdomen, severe abdominal bloating, or severely enlarged veins in the food pipe
- People who are pregnant
- People who have a history of severe allergic reactions
- People who have a tendency to bleed easily or have a blood clotting condition
- People whose health condition otherwise prevents them from safely completing the examinations involved in this study (confirm with trial site)
