Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 60 years of age or older
- People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
- People who are scheduled to have planned (non-emergency) heart surgery
Who may not be able to join:

- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had an allergic reaction to, or cannot tolerate, a medication called liraglutide
- People who have previously used a class of medications known as GLP-1 receptor agonists or SGLT2 inhibitors (confirm with trial site)
- People who do not agree to sign the informed consent form
