Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are able to give written consent to participate
- People who have had type 2 diabetes for at least 3 years and are currently using glucose-lowering treatment that includes insulin
- People who are between 35 and 55 years old
- People of Asian ethnicity with a body mass index (BMI) of 27 or higher
- People who are currently taking medication to treat high blood pressure
- People who have lost between 15% and 20% of their body weight at the start of the study, with follow-up monitoring for up to 24 weeks
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have type 1 diabetes
- People who are younger than 35 or older than 55 years of age
- People with serious or unstable heart conditions, such as severe heart failure, hard-to-treat chest pain, uncontrolled irregular heartbeat, serious heart valve problems, or severely uncontrolled high blood pressure
- People whose kidneys are not functioning well (low filtration rate below 30 mL/min) or who have had dialysis within 14 days before the screening visit
- People who have had a cancer diagnosis within the past 5 years
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with an inherited (hereditary) medical condition
- People who are known to be allergic to any of the substances being tested in the trial
