Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a healthy person aged 18 to 64 with no known health conditions
  • You are aged 18 to 64 and have been diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy, with scarring in a part of the brain called the hippocampus that has been seen on an MRI scan

Who may not be able to join:

  • You do not speak English, as the trial team is unable to provide translation services
  • You are unable to give your own consent to take part in the study
  • You have a reason why you cannot safely have an MRI scan (confirm with trial site)
  • You are under 17 or over 65 years old
  • You weigh more than 127.5kg (approximately 281 lbs or 20 stone)
  • You are a woman who could become pregnant and have tested positive on a pregnancy test
  • You are currently breastfeeding
  • You have a known allergy or sensitivity to Ferumoxytol (also called Feraheme) or any of its ingredients
  • You have previously had an allergic reaction to any iron product given through a drip or injection into a vein
