Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years old or older
- You have epilepsy that has not been controlled despite trying at least 3 different seizure medications, and you are currently taking 1 to 4 seizure medications
- Doctors have already done thorough testing to identify where in the brain your seizures are starting
- You have had at least 4 seizures that are clearly visible or significantly disabling during an 8-week observation period, with at least one seizure per month during that time
- You are willing and able to give written consent and follow the study plan throughout the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- You have an active mental health or mood disorder that doctors believe would interfere with taking part in the study
- You have a pacemaker, heart defibrillator, permanent medication pump, cochlear implant, or deep brain stimulator already implanted
- The area of your scalp or skull where the treatment would be applied has scars, skin conditions (such as eczema), wounds, or thinning of the scalp
- There is a calcium deposit (calcification) detected by imaging in the path of the treatment
- Your blood does not clot normally, based on specific blood test results, or you take blood-thinning medications (confirm with trial site)
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have other serious health problems that would make it hard to follow the study requirements
- You have a known allergy to MRI contrast dye, or you have metal implants that are not safe for MRI scans
- You currently use recreational drugs, have a history of drug addiction, or have a known history of alcohol or substance abuse
- You have taken part in another clinical trial involving an experimental drug or device within the past 4 weeks
- Your seizure medications have been changed during the initial observation/screening period
- Your vagus nerve stimulator (a device used to help control seizures) settings were changed within 2 months before the start of the observation period
- You have had a specific brain procedure called radiofrequency thermocoagulation within 2 months before the start of the observation period
- Your IQ score is below 70, based on a specific standardised intelligence test
- Any other condition that the study doctor feels would make participation unsuitable or unsafe for you (confirm with trial site)
