Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 35 years old
- You are able to read and communicate proficiently in English
- You have a formal diagnosis of autism or autism spectrum disorder, OR you score 17 or higher on a specific autism questionnaire called the Autism Quotient (AQ)
- You have good vision and hearing, or these are corrected to a good level (for example, with glasses or hearing aids)
- You are right-handed, as confirmed by a standard handedness questionnaire
- You score 85 or higher on a thinking and reasoning assessment called the Shipley-2 (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have ever lost consciousness for more than 5 minutes
- Any of your immediate biological family members (such as a parent or sibling) have a history of epilepsy or seizures
- You have a significant ongoing medical condition, such as a neurological disorder or a long-term illness
- You have any surgically implanted metal anywhere above your neck (for example, metal pins, plates, cochlear implants, aneurysm clips, or brain electrodes)
- You have been hospitalised for depression, anxiety, or substance abuse within the past 12 months
- You are currently pregnant
- You have a pacemaker
- You have a history of any neurological condition such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, bipolar disorder, encephalitis, epilepsy, seizures, or ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
