Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged between 18 and 40 years old
• People with an IQ above 70
• People who can read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• People who are able to give informed consent, as assessed by a clinician
• People with no history of seizures
• People who are willing to follow all study procedures and sign a consent form
• People who agree to avoid alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and caffeine on the days of study visits

For people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), additional criteria apply:

• A formal ASD diagnosis under DSM-5 (a standard diagnostic system), without intellectual disability, confirmed through clinical assessment and a specific autism assessment tool called the ADOS-2
• Significant difficulties with movement or motor skills, as measured by a standardised motor skills test called the BOT-2
• Being medically stable with no changes to medication in the past four weeks

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are currently pregnant
• People with a current or past serious medical condition that may need urgent medical treatment
• People with a substance use disorder (other than tobacco) in the past six months
• People with significant hearing or vision problems that would make it difficult to follow instructions
• People with a serious neurological or medical illness, such as brain infections, brain tumours, aneurysms, or uncontrolled diabetes
• People with metal implants or a pacemaker
• People who have previously received a type of brain stimulation treatment called rTMS
• People with ASD who are currently taking benzodiazepines or anticonvulsant medications

For neurotypical (non-autistic) participants, additional exclusions apply:

• People who have a mental health condition other than a specific phobia, as identified through a screening assessment
• People who have a biological family member diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder or ASD
