Who might be able to join this trial:

Main study group (parents with autism):

  • Parents who have a confirmed diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including atypical autism or Asperger syndrome
  • Adults aged 18 years or older
  • Parents who have a child between 0 and 6 years old

Control group (parents without a psychiatric diagnosis):

  • Parents who have never received a main diagnosis of a psychiatric illness
  • Adults aged 18 years or older
  • Parents who have a child between 0 and 6 years old
  • People whose age and gender match those of participants in the main study group (matching is determined by the trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

Main study group:

  • People whose general thinking and reasoning abilities are assessed as below average by a clinician
  • People who do not speak German
  • People who have severe vision or hearing problems that are not corrected by glasses, hearing aids, or similar devices
  • People with serious neurological or psychiatric conditions, such as epilepsy or psychosis
  • People who are currently experiencing thoughts of suicide, based on a clinical assessment

Control group:

  • People who have any of the psychiatric diagnoses that exclude them from the main study group
  • People whose general thinking and reasoning abilities are assessed as below average
  • People who do not speak German
  • People who have severe vision or hearing problems that are not corrected
