Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older
  • You must be well enough to carry out some daily activities (your doctor will assess this using a standard scale called ECOG, scoring 0, 1, or 2)
  • Your stomach cancer must have been confirmed by a tissue sample (biopsy) taken during an endoscopy, showing a type called adenocarcinoma
  • A specialist medical team must have agreed that pre-surgery treatment (given before the main operation) is suitable for you, and that a full surgical removal of the stomach cancer may be possible afterward
  • Your blood counts, liver, kidneys, heart, and lungs must be working well enough before treatment starts, with no reasons why chemotherapy or surgery would be unsafe
  • If you could become pregnant, you must have had a negative pregnancy test within the last month, and must not currently be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You must be willing and able to give informed consent and follow the study plan

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your cancer must not have spread to other parts of the body (no metastasis)
  • You must not have severe heart failure, advanced liver scarring (cirrhosis), end-stage kidney failure requiring regular dialysis, or be classified as very high surgical risk (confirm with trial site)
  • You must not have had a brain bleed, stroke, mini-stroke, or serious nervous system or mental health condition in the last 6 months that would prevent you from completing the treatment and exercise programme
  • You must not have a serious active infection or a known allergic reaction to the chemotherapy drugs being used, or significant problems with your body's metabolism
  • You must not have another condition or tumour that also requires surgery at the same time (except for keyhole gallbladder removal)
  • You must not need emergency surgery due to complications from your cancer, such as bleeding, a tear in the stomach wall, or a blockage
  • You must not currently be taking part in another clinical trial
