Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 50 years old who have had a positive HBsAg blood test result (a marker for hepatitis B) for more than 6 months, indicating chronic hepatitis B (CHB)
- People in the untreated group whose condition fits one of the four recognised stages of chronic hepatitis B, as defined by China's 2022 hepatitis B guidelines (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who have been diagnosed with cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) or liver cancer, detected through scans or other tests
- People who also have certain other liver or infectious conditions, including hepatitis A, C, or E, liver disease caused by parasites, liver damage from medications, autoimmune hepatitis, alcohol-related liver disease, severe fatty liver, or HIV infection
- People who are currently taking immunosuppressant medications, immune-modifying drugs, hormone-based medications, or biological therapies
- People with a previous history of cancer or an organ transplant, or a history of heavy alcohol use (more than 30g per day for men, or more than 20g per day for women)
- People for whom there would not be enough follow-up time or complete enough medical and test records available
- People with significant heart, brain, kidney, lung, or other major organ problems, or serious conditions affecting the hormone or blood systems
- People with serious mental health conditions, including severe anxiety or depression
- People who are not willing to take part in the study
