Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are in their final two years of high school, or who have delayed their graduation
- People who have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) based on a doctor's assessment and/or a recognised diagnostic tool called the ADOS-2
- People whose general intelligence score (IQ) is 70 or above, as measured by a specific standardised test called the WASI-2
- People who have been assessed as having daily living skills that are noticeably below what would be expected for their IQ level — specifically, at least one area of daily living skills scoring 15 or more points below their full-scale IQ, as measured by a tool called the Vineland-3
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have significant aggressive behaviours or mental health concerns that would need a level of support beyond what this trial offers
- People who have already completed a social skills programme called PEERS (either at Cincinnati Children's Hospital or elsewhere), unless it has been roughly 2–3 years since they did so — the trial's lead researcher makes the final decision on this (confirm with trial site)
