Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 75 years old (inclusive)
- You have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 3 months before the screening visit
- Your HbA1c (a measure of average blood sugar over recent months) was between 7.5% and 11.0% at your screening appointment
- You have been making lifestyle changes (such as diet and exercise) and have been taking metformin at a dose of at least 1500 mg per day, consistently, for at least 8 weeks before screening
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a known or suspected allergy to the trial drug or any of its ingredients
- You have been diagnosed with, or are suspected of having, type 1 diabetes or another specific or secondary form of diabetes
- You have had a serious diabetes-related emergency (such as diabetic ketoacidosis or a very high blood sugar crisis) within the 6 months before screening
- You have certain serious diabetes-related complications, such as advanced eye disease, severe nerve pain, diabetic foot ulcers, or circulation problems in the legs that need urgent treatment
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the trial; or you are a woman who could become pregnant or a man, and you are not using adequate contraception (confirm with trial site)
