Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are older than 18 years of age.
- People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of stomach or gastroesophageal junction (the area where the food pipe meets the stomach) cancer called adenocarcinoma, at various stages, with no more than 30% of the liver affected.
- People whose primary tumour has been assessed by scans as able to be surgically removed.
- People who are considered well enough for surgery, based on two standard health scoring systems used by doctors to assess fitness for an operation.
- People whose cancer has been assessed by their treating doctor as suitable for treatment with a specific chemotherapy combination called FLOT.
- People who have given their informed consent to participate in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer cannot be surgically removed.
- People whose cancer has grown directly into nearby organs such as the pancreas, colon, blood vessels, or bones.
- People who have been diagnosed with or treated for another cancer within the last 2 years, unless it was a low-risk skin cancer (not melanoma).
- People who have had previous surgery on the food pipe, stomach, or upper small intestine that has changed the normal structure of those areas.
- People with a Body Mass Index (a measure of body weight relative to height) of 18 or below.
- People who are unable to understand or read the consent form.
- People with other serious illnesses or active infections.
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
