Who might be able to join this trial:
- Children between 1 and 10 years old, of any gender
- Children whose movement abilities fall within a certain range of difficulty — from needing some assistance to move around, to having very limited movement (this is measured using a standard scale called the GMFCS, levels II to V)
- Children who have spastic cerebral palsy that was caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have problems with blood clotting
- Children with serious health conditions such as severe malnutrition, heart failure, lung failure, liver failure, kidney failure, or a current active infection
- Children whose spine is in a condition that would prevent a small tube (catheter) from being safely inserted through the spinal canal (confirm with trial site)
- Children who have cancer
- Children who are HIV positive, or who have an active hepatitis infection
- Children whose haemoglobin (a measure of red blood cells in the blood) is below a certain level, specifically below 110 g/L
