Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with stomach cancer and are scheduled to have robot-assisted surgery to remove part or all of the stomach.
  • Adults aged 20 or older who are able to make their own decisions.
  • People who are able to have a CT scan done in the specific way required by the trial.
  • People who, before the trial begins, have had a private conversation with the research team, been given a full explanation of the trial's purpose and what it involves, and have voluntarily signed a consent form approved by an ethics review board.

Who may not be able to join:

  • People considered vulnerable, including those who cannot make their own decisions, people who cannot read, pregnant women, newborns, or anyone under the age of 20.
  • People who cannot have a CT scan done in the required way before surgery — for example, due to an allergy to contrast dye, kidney function results above a certain level (creatinine more than 1.5 times the upper limit of normal), or fear of enclosed spaces (confirm with trial site for exact thresholds).
  • People whose major stomach or abdominal blood vessels have been changed or affected by a previous stomach or abdominal surgery. Note: people who have had abdominal surgery that did not affect the stomach or major blood vessels may still be considered.
  • People who have previously had stomach cancer surgery and still have remaining stomach cancer from that earlier surgery.
  • People who do not agree to take part in the study, or who later withdraw their agreement.
  • People who are scheduled to have other organs removed at the same time as the stomach surgery.
