Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are male or female, aged between 18 and 60 years old
- People with a body mass index (a measure of body weight relative to height) between 18 and 32
- People who have had a chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection for at least 6 months
- People who have been taking antiviral medication for hepatitis B (called NRTI therapy) for at least 6 months, with the virus at undetectable or very low levels in the blood during that time
- People whose liver enzyme levels (ALT and AST — markers of liver health) are within the normal range at the screening visit
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have other significant ongoing health conditions (beyond chronic hepatitis B) that the trial site considers unsuitable for participation
- People who have significant liver scarring (fibrosis) or a hardening of the liver (cirrhosis)
- People with a history of significant liver disease caused by anything other than hepatitis B
- People who have had liver failure or a serious decline in liver function in the past
- People who have been diagnosed with, or are suspected of having, liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma)
- People who currently have, or have previously had, an infection with HIV, hepatitis C (HCV), or hepatitis D (HDV)
- People whose blood test results suggest that a particular treatment used in this trial (PEG-IFNα, a type of immune-boosting medication) would not be safe for them (confirm with trial site)
- People with a known history of problems with their immune system
- People who have previously had a bad reaction to injections given into the muscle or under the skin
