Clinical group (children with autism):
- Children and teenagers between 5 and 17 years old
- A diagnosis of autism based on DSM-5 criteria
Control group (children without diagnoses):
- Children and teenagers between 5 and 17 years old who are healthy and have no neurological or psychiatric diagnoses
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have been diagnosed with a peripheral nerve condition (a problem affecting the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord)
- Children who have a psychiatric diagnosis such as psychosis
- Children who have Tourette Syndrome
- Children who have a neurological condition such as epilepsy
- Children who have a sensory impairment or loss (such as significant vision or hearing problems)
- Children who have a genetic condition or syndrome
