Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 1 year before the screening visit
- People who have been taking a stable dose of metformin (alone or combined with one other diabetes tablet) for at least 3 months before the screening visit
- People whose blood sugar levels are not well controlled on their current treatment
- People whose body mass index (a measure of weight relative to height) falls between 20 and 40

Who may not be able to join:
- People with severe kidney problems
- People with a short life expectancy
- People with other conditions that would make it difficult to measure whether the treatment is working
- People with other conditions that would make participation in the study unsafe
- People who have had a severe low blood sugar episode requiring help from another person within the 3 months before the screening visit
- People with a history of significant pancreas inflammation (pancreatitis) or serious digestive disorders
- People with a history of severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, or who have a known allergy or sensitivity to any of the study medications or their ingredients
- People who have previously been treated with insulin
- People currently using blood sugar-lowering medications other than metformin alone or combined with one other approved diabetes tablet
- People currently using steroid medications taken by mouth or injection (systemic glucocorticoids)
- People currently using weight loss medications
- People who previously stopped a GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment due to side effects, tolerability issues, or because it did not work
- People whose blood test results at the screening visit fall outside acceptable ranges (confirm with trial site)
- People with current or previous skin conditions (confirm with trial site for specific details)
- People who are unwilling or unable to check their blood sugar at home using the blood glucose meter provided by the study
