Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with stomach (gastric) adenocarcinoma confirmed by a tissue test before surgery.
• Your surgeon believes your cancer can be completely removed during surgery.
• You have been assessed as fit enough for surgery, with an anesthesia risk score of 3 or below (on a standard 5-point scale used by anesthesiologists).
• After surgery, the drain tube placed in your abdomen is collecting more than 300 ml (about 1¼ cups) of fluid in a 24-hour period on the 4th day after your operation.

Who may not be able to join:

• You are 80 years old or older.
• Your stomach cancer has been classified as stage IV (most advanced stage).
• You have fluid build-up in your abdomen caused by cancer spreading to the lining of the abdomen (peritoneal metastasis).
• You have developed clear complications inside your abdomen after surgery.
• You need an additional drain inserted through the skin because your current drain is not working well enough.
• Your surgery did not remove all visible cancer (incomplete removal was performed).
• You have been diagnosed with a cancer other than stomach cancer.
• You have had a major abdominal surgery or radiation treatment to the abdomen in the past that may affect how your body absorbs fluid inside the abdomen (confirm with trial site).
• Your drain is collecting more than 500 ml (about 2 cups) of fluid in a 24-hour period on the 4th day after surgery.
• You have any of the following signs or conditions after surgery: a leak from the pancreas detected through drain fluid tests; a fever above 37.8°C (100°F); significantly elevated infection markers in your blood (high white blood cell count or high C-reactive protein); or drain fluid that is milky-colored, bloody, or looks like there may be ongoing internal bleeding.
• Certain groups of people are not eligible to participate, including anyone under 18, pregnant women, newborns, adults who cannot give informed consent, people living in institutional facilities, students, employees of hospitals or research centers, pharmaceutical company employees, military personnel, unemployed people, people experiencing financial hardship, homeless individuals, people who are terminally ill, or people in emergency situations.
