Who might be able to join this trial:

• The child must be between 2 years old and 5 years and 11 months old at the time of signing up
• The child must have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), confirmed through medical records or a parent questionnaire
• The child must have a significant delay in language development, based on scores from a specific communication assessment (confirm with trial site for exact score requirements)
• A parent or main caregiver who speaks Spanish must be available to regularly take part in study activities and practice the therapy techniques in Spanish
• If the child is taking any psychiatric medications or receiving other medical treatments, these must have been stable for at least 1 month before the study starts, with no planned changes during the study
• The child's therapy services (such as behavior therapy or speech therapy) and school placement must have been stable for at least 1 month before the study starts, with no expected changes
• The child must be receiving no more than 60 minutes of one-on-one speech therapy per week

Who may not be able to join:

• The child's or parent's primary language is not Spanish
• Either the child or the parent has a serious psychiatric condition or an unstable health condition
• The parent has already learned and practiced the specific therapy used in this study (called Pivotal Response Treatment) to a high level of skill before the study begins
• The child is currently receiving more than 15 hours per week of one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy
