Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 6 and 60 years old.
- A doctor has determined that your epilepsy does not respond well to medication (also called drug-resistant epilepsy).
- You have disabling seizures at least 2 times per month or more.
- You (and/or your guardian) are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had seizures caused by psychological rather than neurological reasons (called psychogenic non-epileptic seizures) within the past 12 months.
- You have an electrical medical device implanted anywhere in your body (such as a pacemaker or spinal cord stimulator), or any metal implants in your head (such as aneurysm clips or cochlear implants). Note: A vagal nerve stimulator may be allowed if its settings have been stable for at least 3 months before the study screening visit (confirm with trial site).
- You have health conditions or take medications that increase the risk of bleeding during or after surgery (confirm with trial site).
- You have an IQ below 55 or severe thinking and memory difficulties that would prevent you from completing the study.
- You have been diagnosed with a progressive neurological condition, such as Rasmussen's encephalitis.
- You have been diagnosed with a serious mental health condition such as dementia, severe depression (including any history of psychiatric hospital admission in the last 5 years, or any thoughts of self-harm or suicide), schizophrenia, or a neurodegenerative disorder.
- You have other serious physical health problems, or significantly reduced liver or kidney function.
- You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant within the next 2 years.
- You have taken part in another clinical trial within the last 3 months.
- The trial's specialist medical team has determined that you are not suitable for enrollment for any other reason (confirm with trial site).
