Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
- People who are taking metformin, either at a stable dose of 1500 mg per day or more, at the highest dose they can tolerate (between 1000 mg and less than 1500 mg per day), or combined with a stable dose of a sulfonylurea medication for at least 8 weeks before the study starts (confirm with trial site for which category applies).
- People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 23 or above at the time of screening.
- People whose weight has been stable (within plus or minus 5%) for at least 3 months before the screening visit.

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes or certain other specific types of diabetes.
- People who have had a cancer diagnosis in the past 5 years, or where cancer is suspected, with some exceptions for certain early-stage or fully treated skin, cervical, prostate, or thyroid cancers with no recurrence after surgery (confirm with trial site).
- People who have ever had chronic or acute pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas).
- People who have a known history of multiple allergies (to 3 or more foods or medicines), an allergy to a class of diabetes medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists, or severe allergic conditions such as asthma, hives, or eczema-related skin inflammation.
- People who are not able to make decisions for themselves or who have significant difficulty communicating.
- People with a known or suspected history of alcohol or drug misuse.
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
- People whom the trial doctor considers unsuitable for any other reason.
