Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are over 18 years old
- You have been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease for at least 6 months
- You have had moderate to severe symptoms that seem to be triggered by food, or symptoms similar to irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), for at least 3 months
- Your Crohn's Disease medications have been at the same dose for at least 3 months
- You are being admitted to the clinic for internal and integrative medicine in Bamberg for regular treatment
- You have had a specific type of camera examination of your digestive tract (a scope procedure with a special laser technology) that showed a food-related problem with your gut lining
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently experiencing a severe flare-up of your Crohn's Disease
- You have a stoma (an artificial opening on your abdomen for waste to leave the body)
- You have a known IgE-type allergy (a specific immune system allergy) to any of the foods tested in the procedure, including egg white, soy, milk, yeast, or wheat (confirm with trial site)
- The scope examination showed visible inflammation in the upper part of your small intestine (duodenum)
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have a problem with long-term heavy alcohol or drug use
- You have taken antibiotics in the month before the study starts
- You have another gut condition such as coeliac disease, ulcerative colitis, or certain infections or inflammatory conditions affecting the gut or other organs such as the liver or joints
- You have been diagnosed with cancer affecting an internal organ within the last 5 years
- You have a severe mental health condition that would make it difficult to understand or follow the study requirements
- You are unable to give written consent or follow the study plan
- You have taken part in another treatment-based clinical trial in the last 30 days
