Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 19 years of age or older at the time of giving consent.
- People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of stomach or stomach-esophagus junction cancer (adenocarcinoma) that has spread, cannot be removed by surgery, or has grown into nearby areas, confirmed by a tissue biopsy.
- People whose tumor has been tested and shows a high level of a protein called CLDN18.2, present in 75% or more of the tumor cells at a moderate to strong level, based on a lab test called IHC.
- People whose tumor has tested negative for a protein called HER2, based on specific lab test results.
- People who have already received a medicine called Zolbetuximab as their first treatment for this cancer.
- People who are in good enough general health to be fairly active, rated 0 or 1 on a standard medical scale (confirm with trial site).
- People whose recent blood and organ function tests meet all of the following levels: haemoglobin at least 8 g/dL (or at least 9 g/dL after a blood transfusion if one was needed), white blood cell count and platelet count above certain minimum levels, liver function within acceptable ranges (with slightly different limits if the cancer has spread to the liver), and kidney function showing a clearance rate of at least 30 mL/min (confirm specific values with trial site).
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously taken part in any clinical trial involving Zolbetuximab, even if they did not actually receive Zolbetuximab during that trial.
- People with a known or suspected allergic reaction to Zolbetuximab, other similar antibody-based medicines, or ingredients in the treatment formulation.
- People who have already received chemotherapy specifically for advanced or metastatic stomach or stomach-esophagus junction cancer, unless any earlier chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or anticancer treatment was given before or after surgery and was fully completed at least 6 months before joining the trial.
- People who have received immune-suppressing medicines, including steroid medicines, within the 14 days before enrolling, with some exceptions for low-dose or one-off steroid use (confirm details with trial site).
- People who have a complete blockage of the stomach outlet, or a partial blockage that is causing ongoing or repeated vomiting.
- People who, in the treating doctor's judgement, have significant stomach bleeding or untreated stomach ulcers that would make participation unsafe.
- People who, in the treating doctor's opinion, have any other condition that would make receiving or tolerating Zolbetuximab unsuitable.
