- People who have a formal diagnosis of intellectual disability recorded in their medical notes
- People who have a formal diagnosis of epilepsy recorded in their medical notes
- People who are currently receiving care from a specialist intellectual disability or epilepsy service at one of the three participating NHS Trusts
- People who are between 18 and 30 years old at the time of giving consent
- People who are able to give consent for themselves, or who have a personal consultee (such as a close family member or carer) who can speak to what the person's views and feelings would be
- People who, or whose personal consultee, are able to communicate in English (or Welsh at the Welsh site)
Who may not be able to join:
De-identified database:
- People who have other neurodevelopmental conditions but do not have an intellectual disability diagnosis
- People whose records show they have opted out of having their data used for research or audit through the National Data Opt-out system
Research register:
- People who have other neurodevelopmental conditions but do not have an intellectual disability diagnosis

Primary endpoints
The set up of a research database consisting of de-identified data focused on People with Intellectual Disabilities (PwID) and epilepsy at three UK NHS sites across England and Wales.; The development of a research register of PwID and epilepsy. Participants will consent to the collection of their personal/clinical data, which will enable the identification of patients willing to take part in other ethically approved research projects.
