Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People with severe kidney disease that requires dialysis before any procedure
  • People with confirmed severe liver disease
  • People diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), or any other ongoing or sudden lung condition requiring regular or long-term oxygen use
  • People with raised pressure inside the skull
  • People with an active infection in the upper airways, including the mouth, nose, or throat
  • People with a fever (body temperature above 37.5°C)
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People with a known allergy or sensitivity to sedative medications such as propofol, or to medical materials such as adhesive tape
  • People requiring emergency surgery
  • People with multiple serious injuries (polytrauma)
  • People whose blood oxygen level (measured by a finger clip device) is below 95% while breathing normal room air before the procedure
  • People with a BMI below 28
  • People with a documented history of drug or alcohol misuse within the two years before the trial screening period, including drinking more than three standard alcoholic drinks per day (roughly 10g of alcohol or 50g of Chinese Baijiu)
  • People with a history of mental health or neurological conditions, including but not limited to depression, severe nervous system problems, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, or myasthenia gravis
  • People who are currently participating in another clinical trial
  • People considered ineligible by the trial researchers for any other reason
