Who might be able to join this trial:

• Men and women aged 18 or older
• People who have been diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma or cholangiocarcinoma), confirmed by tissue sample or scan
• People who have liver cirrhosis (scarring of the liver), confirmed by scan or tissue sample
• People who have primary sclerosing cholangitis (a condition affecting the bile ducts), confirmed by a specialist scan or tissue sample
• People who have general digestive or stomach symptoms but whose liver appears normal on a scan (to act as a comparison group)

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have had an active infection, or who have been taking medication that suppresses the immune system, within the last eight weeks
• People who have had a different type of cancer within the last five years
• People who have previously had surgery to remove part of their liver
• People who have already started chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery for their liver cancer
• People whose other health conditions would prevent them from providing a breath sample (confirm with trial site)
• Women who are pregnant (this will be checked verbally during the process)
• People who are unable to read, understand, and sign a consent form
