Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have given their signed agreement to take part in the study
- People aged 18 or older but under 80 years old
- People who have a confirmed long-term (chronic) Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, sometimes called being an "inactive HBV carrier"
- People whose Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) blood levels fall within a specific range (20–15,000 IU/ml), measured on at least two separate occasions between 6 and 18 months apart
- People whose Hepatitis B virus DNA levels fall within a specific range (1,000–20,000 IU/ml), measured on at least two separate occasions between 6 and 18 months apart
- Women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test before joining
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have refused to take part in the study
- People with a known condition called G-6-Phosphatase deficiency (a specific inherited enzyme disorder)
- People currently taking a type of medication that affects serotonin levels in the body (confirm with trial site for specific medications)
- People currently being treated with antiviral medications for Hepatitis B known as nucleoside or nucleotide analogues
- People who have another significant liver condition alongside their Hepatitis B
- People whose liver enzyme levels (GPT) are more than twice the normal upper limit
- People whose liver stiffness scan (Fibroscan) result was above 8.0 kPa within the 12 months before the study screening visit
- People who test positive for a specific Hepatitis B marker called HBeAg
- People who test positive for antibodies to a related virus called Hepatitis D (HDV)
- Women who are currently breastfeeding
