Who might be able to join this trial:

• Children between the ages of 8 and 14
• Children who show significant difficulties with back-and-forth social interaction, based on a parent-completed questionnaire called the SCQ (a score of 11 or above)
• Children who can speak and understand English well enough to take part in specific sections of a researcher-led assessment called the ADOS-2
• Children with a verbal reasoning score of 70 or above, as measured by a researcher-administered test called the KBIT-2
• Children who have clinically significant anxiety symptoms, identified through parent-completed questionnaires (either the SCARED or the PRAS-ASD)
• Children who have a legal guardian able to give consent for both the child's participation and their own involvement in the program alongside the child — or, if the legal guardian cannot participate themselves, another caregiver who lives with the child may take part instead, with the legal guardian still signing the consent form and giving written permission for that caregiver to be involved

Who may not be able to join:

• Children who do not meet one or more of the inclusion criteria listed above
• Children who the research team determines — through parent report or direct observation — have a severe medical or mental health condition (such as psychosis, severe aggressive behaviour, or other serious clinical symptoms) that would require more intensive support, such as day treatment or hospitalisation
