Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have had a dangerously low blood sugar episode requiring a hospital visit or help from another person in the last 6 months
  • People who have had a heart attack, stroke, or other serious heart or blood vessel event in the last 6 months
  • People currently taking certain diabetes or weight-loss medications, including GLP-1 medications (such as semaglutide or tirzepatide), insulin, or combinations of these
  • People whose HbA1c blood sugar result is 10% or higher
  • People who have type 1 diabetes
  • People whose resting top blood pressure number (systolic) is below 100
  • People who weigh more than 400 lbs, due to the weight limit of the study's scale equipment
  • People living with a long-term health condition that could interfere with taking part in the trial (confirm with trial site)
  • People currently enrolled in another clinical trial that could affect blood pressure, weight, diabetes, or ability to follow study steps
  • People currently following a conflicting eating program, such as a meal replacement plan or a ketogenic (keto) diet
  • People who are unwilling or unable to follow a DASH-style diet (a heart-healthy eating approach focused on vegetables, fruits, and low-sodium foods)
  • People who plan to move away from the area within the next 6 months
