- Children who are between 6 and 15 years old (inclusive) at the time of signing the consent form
- Children who have been formally diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) according to the current standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5), meaning they show persistent difficulties with social communication and interaction, as well as restricted or repetitive behaviors, interests, or activities
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who weigh less than 16 kg (about 35 lbs) or more than 70 kg (about 154 lbs)
- Children who have a serious mental health condition other than autism that could affect their ability to take part in the trial
- Children who have a history of brain disease, neurological conditions, or seizures/epilepsy that are not fully controlled by medication or surgery (note: children with a history of simple febrile seizures — fever-related seizures — may still be considered at the doctor's discretion)
- Children who have severe problems with blood flow in the arteries or heart (confirm with trial site)
- Children who have experienced, or currently experience, symptoms such as delusions or hallucinations
- Children who have a digestive or stomach condition (such as active peptic ulcers) or have had stomach/intestinal surgery that might affect how the body absorbs the study medication (note: children who have had a simple appendix removal or hernia surgery may still be considered)
- Children who displayed serious self-harming or aggressive behavior that needed medical attention during the screening period, as judged by the doctor
- Children who have sensory conditions such as being born with hearing loss
