Who might be able to join this trial:

- People who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes for at least 1 year

- People with kidney problems, where a specific kidney marker in the blood is 1.5 times higher than the normal upper limit, or whose liver enzyme levels (ALT and AST) are more than twice the normal level
- People with a history of mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, or bipolar disorder
- People who have drunk excessive amounts of alcohol or misused drugs in the past 3 months
- People who have taken medications that affect blood sugar levels — such as steroids, immune-suppressing drugs, or weight-loss medications — in the past 3 months
- People who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding, or who have any other condition considered unsuitable for trial participation
- People who are currently taking part in, or planning to join, another clinical trial
