Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older who have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes
- People whose most recent HbA1c blood sugar test result was 9% or higher, tested within the last 6 months
- People who agree to use only the glucose monitoring device provided by the study to track their blood sugar levels during the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have Type 1 diabetes
- People who currently use insulin
- People who are pregnant
- People who take steroids or other medications known to affect blood sugar levels, including certain antipsychotic medications (such as Clozapine, Olanzapine, Paliperidone, Quetiapine, or Risperidone), corticosteroids, immune-suppressing medications (such as Cyclosporine, Sirolimus, or Tacrolimus), or HIV medications known as protease inhibitors (such as Atazanavir, Darunavir, Fosamprenavir, Indinavir, Nelfinavir, Ritonavir, Saquinavir, or Tipranavir)
- People with a life expectancy of less than 6 months
- People who have been diagnosed with stage 5 kidney disease, or who the trial doctor considers to be at risk of needing dialysis
- People with any active, serious health condition that the trial doctor believes could interfere with taking part in the study
- People who the trial doctor believes would be unable to follow the study procedures (confirm with trial site)
