Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Men between 40 and 70 years of age
  • People who have had Type 2 diabetes for more than 6 months, as defined by recognised diabetes guidelines
  • People whose diabetes may be uncomplicated, or may involve certain related conditions such as eye disease, kidney disease (with kidney function above a certain level), blood vessel disease in the legs, heart disease, or stroke

  • People whose diabetes treatment includes at least one medication from a group called SGLT2 inhibitors (confirm with trial site if unsure whether a current medication falls into this category)
  • People who are members of the French national health insurance system ("Sécurité Sociale")

Who may not be able to join:

  • People already enrolled in another research study
  • People whose personal situation the trial investigator considers incompatible with taking part
  • People who live outside the Alpes-Maritimes or Var regions of France
  • People who do not agree to give their consent to participate
  • People who are under court-ordered restrictions on their freedom, or who are under legal guardianship or curatorship
  • People with severe liver disease (specifically decompensated cirrhosis rated Child C or above)
  • People with moderate-to-severe chronic kidney disease (kidney filtration rate below 59 ml/min/1.73 m²)
  • People who have had a bone fracture within the last 3 months
  • People currently being treated with blood-thinning medications called AVK (such as warfarin) or bone-strengthening medications called bisphosphonates
  • People with a known and treated diagnosis of osteoporosis
  • People with a vitamin D deficiency that is not being treated with supplements
  • People with an active cancer diagnosis
  • People with an active inflammatory condition
