Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with stomach or gastroesophageal junction (the area where the food pipe meets the stomach) cancer that has not yet been treated, where the cancer has grown into nearby tissue and spread to lymph nodes but not to other parts of the body
- People who are planning to have surgery after receiving chemotherapy before the operation
- People who are generally able to carry out daily activities with little or no difficulty (confirm with trial site for exact fitness level required)

- People who are expected to live for more than 12 months

Who may not be able to join:
- People with high blood pressure that remains uncontrolled even with blood pressure medication
- People who have a known severe allergy or reaction to any of the medications used in the study
- People who have a known condition, either inherited or developed, that affects blood clotting or increases the risk of bleeding or clots
- People who have a known condition that significantly weakens the immune system, such as HIV infection
