  • People where cancer has spread to the lining of the abdomen, the liver, or the ovaries, or who have another separate tumour elsewhere in the body, discovered either before or during surgery
  • People who have diabetes and whose blood sugar levels have not been well controlled recently
  • People who have an autoimmune disease and have been treated with steroid medications
  • People whose body mass index (a measure of weight relative to height) is 30 or above, or below 18
  • People who have bleeding in the digestive tract and whose blood count (haemoglobin) is below a certain level
  • People who have low protein levels in their blood (specifically, albumin below a certain level)
  • People who have high blood pressure in the vein that leads to the liver (portal hypertension)
  • People who are found during surgery to have severe swelling or heavy scarring as a result of pre-surgery cancer treatment
  • People where the cancer is found during surgery to have grown into the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine)
  • People who need additional organs removed during the surgery
  • People whose surgical reconstruction method differs from the specific technique required by this trial (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose pre-surgery tissue test results do not match the findings from the tissue removed during surgery
  • People who choose not to participate
  • People who do not follow the study requirements or who withdraw from the study before completing it
