Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You or your child has been diagnosed with (or is suspected to have) autism spectrum disorder (ASD), difficulty understanding language (sometimes called Developmental Language Disorder or DLD), or both — other diagnoses like ADHD are also fine
  • Brothers, sisters, or cousins of someone with ASD or DLD are also welcome to participate
  • People with no diagnoses of ASD or DLD (typically developing individuals) may also be eligible as comparison participants
  • The participant has normal hearing and normal vision, or vision that is corrected to normal with glasses or contact lenses
  • The participant is 2 years old or older
  • The main caregivers speak English as their primary language
  • The family lives in a rural area (as identified by the caregiver themselves)
  • The participant does not need to be able to speak — responding physically (such as pointing or looking) is also acceptable

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have poor hearing
  • People who have brain damage that was either present from birth or acquired later in life
