Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old (any gender)
  • You have been confirmed to have a Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) stomach infection through a breath test, a rapid test, or a stool test
  • You have never received any treatment to get rid of an H. pylori infection before
  • If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you are willing to use an accepted form of birth control during the trial and for 30 days after it ends

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have already had antibiotic treatment to try to clear an H. pylori infection
  • You are allergic to, or cannot safely take, the medication being studied
  • You have serious organ problems (such as liver cirrhosis or kidney failure) or serious heart, lung, or hormone-related conditions
  • You have regularly been taking stomach ulcer medicines, antibiotics, or bismuth-based medicines recently (confirm with trial site for exact timeframes)
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have had surgery on your upper digestive tract (such as your stomach or oesophagus)
  • You have certain pre-cancerous changes found in your digestive tract (confirm with trial site)
  • You have difficulty swallowing
  • You have signs of bleeding or low iron levels in your blood
  • You have a personal history of cancer
  • You have had problems with drug or alcohol misuse in the past year
  • You are currently taking certain medications, including steroids, some painkillers, blood thinners, or blood-clotting medicines (low-dose aspirin at 100mg or less per day may be acceptable — confirm with trial site)
  • You have a diagnosed mental health disorder
  • You have taken part in another clinical trial in the last 3 months
  • You are unwilling to sign the consent form to take part
