Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at least 180 days (about 6 months) before the screening visit.
- People who are currently taking one or more of certain diabetes medications that are not insulin, such as metformin, sulfonylureas, DPP-4 inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP-1 receptor agonists, or several other approved diabetes tablets or injections (confirm with trial site for the full list).
- People whose diabetes management, in the opinion of the trial doctor, needs to be strengthened by adding a long-acting (basal) insulin.
- People who have had an HbA1c blood sugar result of 7% or higher recorded within the 90 days before joining the trial.
Who may not be able to join:

- People who have previously signed a consent form for this same study.
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, planning to become pregnant, or who are able to become pregnant and are not using an adequate form of contraception.
- People who have taken part in another interventional clinical trial and received a study treatment within the 90 days before the screening visit.
- People who have any other health condition that the trial doctor believes could put their safety at risk.
