Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a type of diabetes other than type 2, such as type 1 diabetes or gestational diabetes.
  • People who have had fewer than 6 years of formal education.
  • People who have had a serious blood sugar event in the past 3 months, such as severe low blood sugar, diabetic ketoacidosis, or a hyperglycemic hyperosmolar episode (confirm with trial site).
  • People who have an underactive thyroid or another hormone-related condition that could affect thinking and memory.
  • People with a history of head injury, depression, anxiety, delirium, severe lung or kidney disease, heart failure, or cancer.
  • People who have had problems with alcohol, nicotine, or other substance dependence in the past 2 years.
  • People who have taken medications for Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, or sleep/sedation within the past month.
  • People who are currently taking medication intended to improve memory or thinking, such as donepezil or memantine.
  • People who are unable to complete AI-based screening or follow-up assessments due to difficulties with speech, hearing, vision, or other disabilities.
