Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with cancer (either early-stage requiring additional treatment after surgery, or cancer that has spread) and your doctor plans to start you on a chemotherapy drug called 5-FU or Capecitabine.
  • You have already had a specific genetic test (called a DPYD test) done by an approved laboratory, and your results are available before you start chemotherapy.
  • Your DPYD genetic test shows either one copy of a gene variation (called a heterozygote), OR your DPYD gene results came back completely normal — both groups may be eligible for different parts of the study.
  • You are well enough to carry out some light activity or self-care, based on a standard health assessment scale (confirm with trial site).
  • You may have cancer that can or cannot be measured on scans — both are allowed.

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your doctor has decided that 5-FU or Capecitabine chemotherapy is not safe or appropriate for you.
  • Your DPYD genetic test shows two copies of gene variations (meaning both copies of the gene are affected), as this makes these chemotherapy drugs too risky for you.
  • You are pregnant.
  • You are under 18 years old (confirm with trial site).
