Who might be able to join this trial:
For autistic teens and young adults:
- People between the ages of 16 and 25 years old
- People who have received an autism diagnosis from a qualified professional, such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, developmental pediatrician, or neurologist
- People who are able to name an important person in their life who can hold a full conversation in English
- People who are able to understand and communicate using full sentences in English
- People who are willing to give their informed consent to participate
- People who are willing to have their sessions recorded on both audio and video
For the "important person" nominated by the participant:
- People aged 18 years or older
- People who are able to attend at least 15 minutes of each treatment session
- People who are able to understand and communicate using full sentences in English
- People who are willing to give their informed consent to participate
- People who are willing to have sessions recorded on both audio and video
Who may not be able to join:
For autistic teens and young adults:
- People who have a diagnosis of intellectual disability
- People who are currently considered to be at risk of suicide, or who are currently experiencing thoughts of suicide, harming others, or self-injury
- People who have another psychiatric condition whose symptoms are currently severe enough that they might interfere with the study, in the opinion of the investigator
- People who are planning to make changes to their mental health treatment during the study, such as starting or stopping therapy or psychiatric medications
- People who have previously taken part in a prior version of this specific trial intervention
For the "important person" nominated by the participant:
- People who are not willing to support the autistic teen or young adult with their daily living skill goal
