- People who were admitted to the intensive care unit at Hautepierre Hospital (Strasbourg University Hospital) between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2023
- People who had a serious build-up of lactic acid in their blood (shown by specific blood test results) within the first 24 hours of being admitted to hospital
